Sign language prompted stabbing

Burlington, North Carolina – Witnesses to a stabbing in Burlington said the victim, who is deaf, was signing with another man when a third man mistook their conversation for gang signs and attacked.
Police said Terrance Ervin Daniels, 45, was walking and using sign language on East Morehead Street Wednesday afternoon, when Robert Jarell Neal (picture) saw them and stabbed Daniels multiple times.

Daniels was taken to UNC Hospitals where he was in stable condition.
Neal was arrested night in Elon and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and felony assault on a handicapped person. Full Article
