'Greed,' 'pleasure' behind attempted thrill killing

SEATTLE - Two Kirkland men alleged to have tortured a teenager after breaking into a home there hoping to kill strangers have been charged with attempted murder.

King County prosecutors contend Vincent Sisounong, 21, and Blessing Gainey, 19, broke into the Northeast 133rd Street home on Oct. 12 and tortured an 18-year-old young man after pulling him from his bed. By the time the men fled, their victim had suffered bone-deep cuts to his legs, shoulder and head and was losing large amounts of blood.

At large following the killings, both men were arrested in late October. Both have since been charged with attempted murder and burglary.

According to charging papers, Sisounong and Gainey admitted to the unprovoked attack on a stranger. Writing the court, Senior Deputy Prosecutor Alexandra Voorhees said Sisounong planned to kill when he and Gainey broke into the home.

“They broke into the home of complete strangers with the intent to kill,” Voorhees said in court papers. Sisounong “told detectives that he wanted the victim to ‘fight for his life,’ and when asked if the experience was enjoyable his response was ‘Yeah.’”  More
