Burglary suspect caught after breaking leg on ice

DAYTON — A man fleeing from a home burglary call is caught by police after he slips and falls on the ice, breaking his leg to the point that he could not continue running from police.

The man could be charged with aggravated burglary and attempted felonious assault after he was caught fleeing from a home on East Maplewood Avenue early Saturday.

Police were dispatched to the home in the 300 block of East Maplewood just before 3 a.m. on reports of a burglary with shots fired.

At 2:50 a.m., the homeowner returned to his East Maplewood home to find two males exiting the residence. The man grabbed a gun and fired shots at the two suspects, who returned gunfire at the man, police said.

In total, five to 10 shots were exchanged. Bullets grazed the home and a vehicle, but no one was injured by the shots, police said.  More
