Houston - Jurors deliberated four hours over two days before finding Ana Gonzalez-Angulo, a breast cancer oncologist at MD Anderson accused of poisoning her lover and colleague, guilty of assaulting someone she was in a dating relationship.
The first-degree felony conviction means she faces a maximum of life in prison as the punishment phase of trial is set to begin Friday.
Her defense team had argued she put Splenda in the coffee she shared with Dr. George Blumenschein.
