Man Choked Girlfriend Because She Didn’t Look ‘Like She Was On The Internet’

Laurel County, Kentucky - A Georgia man is accused of assaulting a woman he’d driven to Kentucky to be with, but who didn’t look “like she was on the Internet.”

Cornelius Jefferson, 33, moved from his Georgia home to Eastern Kentucky in hopes of being with the woman he had met online, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department.

The Tuesday assault allegedly took place because the woman failed to match her appearance in her online profile — a situation of intentional deception online that is often referred to as being “catfished.” More
