Dog shot, tied to tracks is rescued from oncoming train

Florida – A dog that had been shot and tied to railroad tracks was saved by Tampa, Fla., cops who were able to stop an oncoming train before it ran the pooch over.

The female mixed-breed dog was tied to the tracks with a belt and had been shot twice in the neck and once above the right shoulder, according to police.

Police Officer Gina Murphy responded about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday to reports of shots fired and found the young pup, believed to be 1 or 2 years old. Officer Nick Wilson and Sgt. R. Mills stopped the oncoming train and freed the dog from the tracks.

She was rushed to the Tampa Bay Veterinary Emergency Clinic, where she was in stable condition Thursday, though she was expected to have her right front leg amputated. More
