Man charged with murder in death involving police chase


Houston - A man who authorities said led Harris County deputies on a chase and then collided with another car, killing that driver, has been charged in the death.

Lanice Tobias Jr. is charged with felony murder after the crash Thursday in northwest Harris County. The criminal complaint against Tobias, 21, identifies the driver killed as Yolanda Juarez.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff's Office pursued Tobias, who was driving a white 2004 Nissan pickup that that been reported stolen, for about four miles before he collided with Juarez's dark colored Honda.

The owner of the pickup, which had been reported stolen in the city of Houston, had tracked it with GPS, placing it in the northwestern portion of the county. Deputy W. Coker spotted it in the 9900 block of Antoine and tried to stop the driver, authorities said. Tobias continued, and later was speeding in the southbound lanes of Antoine. He ran a red light at Fallbrook and collided with Juarez, who was travelling eastbound. More
