Mississippi corrections officer charged with capital murder, kidnapping and armed robbery

Mississippi - A Mississippi corrections officer has been suspended and remains in jail without bond after being charged with capital murder, kidnapping and armed robbery that happened in Jackson on Saturday.

Andre Kennedy (picture), 22, was arrested on Tuesday and suspended without pay on Wednesday from Central Mississippi Correctional Facility, The Clarion-Ledger reported.

Kennedy was one of two men, the other being 23-year-old Edwin Robinson, who approached an unidentified doctor at his Eastover home.

The victim was forced at gunpoint into his house where the suspects took his wallet, and then made him drive them to an ATM to withdraw cash.

The doctor managed to grab a gun out of his truck and fire at the suspects, killing Robinson. Kennedy escaped on foot, but he was eventually apprehended.  More
