Cops perform CPR on man saved from burning home, charge him with attempted murder, arson

Florida – A Florida man pulled from a burning home and resuscitated by police officers was later charged with attempted murder and arson.

Robert Merritt, a 49-year-old dispatcher with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, was saved by officers performing a well-being check at his Orlando home at 5 a.m. Thursday, The Orlando Sentinel reported.

Someone flagged authorities after Merritt posted “going to a better place” on Facebook, Orlando Police said.

What they found was a 6-year-old girl covered in soot, trying desperately to breathe from a cracked window in the front bedroom as the home burned. More
