State trooper who was shot in the head with a sawed-off shotgun during a weekend traffic stop died

Louisiana – Steven Vincent, 43, was a 13-year veteran trooper. He was described as an honorable officer with a wife and 9-year-old son.

Kevin Daigle (picture), the man who allegedly fired at Vincent on Sunday, was in custody.

Authorities had already said that he was expected to face a charge of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer.

Vincent was responding to a report of a suspected drunken driver outside Bell City, roughly 50 miles east of the Texas state line, on Sunday afternoon, state police Supt. Michael D. Edmonson said. More
