German race horse slaughtered for meat less than a week after arriving in U.S.

Florida – A beloved German race horse imported into the United States less than a week ago may have been mutilated into colt cuts.

The 12-year-old gelding Phedras de Blondel was found butchered just yards from his new Florida home on Monday — apparently to be used as meat, authorities said.

“What they did to this horse had nothing to do with his value,” the horse’s brief new owner Debbie Stephens told WTSP. More
