The moment drug-crazed driver tried to flee police after plowing into pedestrians on the sidewalk in Times Square for THREE BLOCKS - killing one and injuring 22

Richard Rojas reportedly told police he had been smoking marijuana before the incident unfolded.

Officials said Rojas was arrested in 2008 and 2015 for driving under the influence in Queens and Mahattan, and in 2016 for menacing in different areas of New York.

The New York Police Department closed off Times Square after the collisions occurred just before noon, at the corner of 45th Street and Broadway.

It comes as the 18-year-old who was killed was identified as Alyssa Elsman - a tourist from Michigan who was vacationing with her family.  More
