TACOMA, Washington – A man already serving time for murdering his wife was charged Tuesday in the 1983 death of his 3-year-old son.
Prosecutors say 57-year-old Stanley Guidroz originally told police his son, Wallace, had been kidnapped by strangers after a trip to Point Defiance Park in January of 1983.
Guidroz said he had been fishing with Wallace when they met another family in the park, who he said kidnapped the young boy. Police were never able to find the mysterious family and no body was found.
In 2011, Detective Gene Miller of the Tacoma Police Department’s Cold Case Unit re-opened the investigation. During Miller’s initial review, he noted several inconsistencies in Guidroz’s account of the events from the day Wallace went missing. Miller also learned that Guidroz had been arrested in Louisiana for his wife’s murder, according to prosecutors. More
