North Carolina – An Iredell County couple is charged with child abuse after officials discovered the family, including five children and a dead family member, living in “extremely unsanitary conditions.”
Deputies responded to the home of 25-year-old Melissa Kay Lynn Poole and 39-year-old Jeremy Daniel Dishner, at West Winds Loop in Statesville, to investigate the report of a death.
When deputies arrived, they found a 62-year-old man, later identified as the grandfather of the children, who had passed away in the home.
Investigators suspect he had passed away some 24 hours before his daughter and her boyfriend noticed. Detectives say Poole and Dishner told them they didn’t know he had died. Officials said the children still went into their grandfather’s room while he was deceased. More
