NYPD cop shot in the face in Queens Village, suspect in custody

New York - The suspect in custody was identified as Demetrius Blackwell — a 35-year-old ex-con, sources said.

Blackwell served seven years in prison on attempted murder charges. He was released from the Clinton Correctional Facility in upstate Dannemora in June 2008.

Blackwell was wanted for committing an unknown crime in Nov. 2014. No other details were immediately available.

"He shot him, but we got him,” said a detective on the scene. “We have the shooter.”  More
