‘Disabled’ daughter charged for mom’s gruesome murder, and she’s not disabled

Missouri – Gypsy Blancharde (left) pretended to be wheelchair-bound for years as part of a financial fraud, Springfield police revealed while announcing her first-degree murder charge for the death of Clauddinnea (Dee Dee) Blancharde, 48.

Gypsy’s Wisconsin boyfriend, 26-year-old Nicholas Godejohn, was also charged for the slaying, which came to the attention of family friends through frightening messages on the mother and daughter’s joint Facebook account.

“We really don’t know the true background of this family,” Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott told the media Tuesday. “This is a tragic, tragic event surrounded by mystery and public deception.”

Neighbors and friends believed Blancharde to be disabled due to leukemia and muscular dystrophy — but she can in fact walk fine without a wheelchair or any assistance, police said. More
