Rikers Island inmate – accused of killing baby – bashes correction officer’s skull in during vicious attack

New York - A Bronx man held at the city jail for four years, accused of killing a baby, clocked a correction captain so hard he needed over 20 staples to mend his bludgeoned skull, according to court papers.

Martin Quirindongo, 22, punched Rikers Captain Claudel Jean-Pierre (picture) early Aug. 29 in the George R. Vierno Center, according to a criminal complaint.

The 5-foot-9, 175-pound man — who is behind bars while awaiting trial in the May 3, 2011 beating death of 9-month-old Ryan Ferrer — struck Jean-Pierre “once in the face with a closed fist,” causing the officer to “fall backward and strike his head on the ground,” according to the Bronx Supreme Court complaint.  More
