Jury only needs three hours to convict driver, who killed four people at Texas music festival, of capital murder

The Texas driver who killed four people when he plowed into a crowd at the South by Southwest Music Festival will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

A Travis County jury found Rashad Owens guilty Friday of capital murder, which carries an automatic sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. The 23-year-old broke down in tears as the families of his victims addressed him in court, the Austin American-Statesman reported.

“I hope your life ends in the confinement of cement walls,” said Pauline Le, whose sister Sandy Le died in the March 2014 wreck. “I hope you sit there and remember everything you did to Sandy.”  More
