The Napier man who wrestled a would-be burglar to the ground was shocked to find the offender was an 11-year-old boy.
Daniel Bot arrived home from work to find someone trying to get inside his house through a window on Tuesday afternoon. Outraged, he tackled him, picked him up and carried him to his van to ring the police. But when he took a closer look at the offender he realised he was a child.
"When I turned up I was pretty outraged. I didn't even know he was quite young till I caught him."
Mr Bot reluctantly let go of the 11-year-old when confronted by other youths. However, not wanting the youths to get away, he followed them in his van until the police arrived. More
