South Suburban student, 19, charged with threatening classmate on Facebook

A 19-year-old high school student threatened to kill his classmate on Facebook last week and later told authorities he had been planning to do so for a year, Cook County prosecutors said Sunday.

Thomas Braasch, of Worth, told another male classmate on Wednesday on Facebook that he would kill him at school the next day, said Assistant State’s Attorney Anthony Gattuso.

The two attend Alan B. Shepard High School in Palos Heights, according to court records.

The message was viewed by other students and a school employee, who alerted administrators. Braasch was immediately escorted by school security to the school office when he arrived to school the next day, Gattuso said. The teen was not carrying a weapon, he added.  More
