Hermance Horace, 49, faces an aggravated child-abuse charge and was arrested Monday after she became upset when the 10-year-old boy cut his brother's suit, according to a Boynton Beach Police arrest report.
A Department of Children & Family Services investigator learned of the abuse and talked with the child on Tuesday. The boy said the woman hit him about 10 to 15 times with a belt from behind. When asked about two 2-inch scratches on his face, the boy said on one of the lashes the belt wrapped around and hit him in the face.
Police said the beating left the child with back pain the next day and that the boy said he was considering running away. More
