Chicago-area couple could face death by firing in squad in Bali murder case

Indonesia – An American couple could face death by a firing squad if convicted of first-degree murder in the beating death of Chicago woman Sheila von Wiese-Mack, whose body was found stuffed inside a suitcase outside a lavish resort in Bali, Indonesia.

Indonesian police charged the victim’s daughter, 19-year-old Heather Mack (picture), and her boyfriend, 21-year-old Tommy Schaefer, with murder on Friday, according to the Associated Press.

Bali authorities said 62-year-old von Wiese-Mack was bludgeoned to death before her body was put inside a silver-colored suitcase and left outside the St. Regis luxury hotel in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Tuesday.

Wiese-Mack’s daughter and her boyfriend, both from Chicago, were arrested Wednesday in Bali’s Kuta area. More
