Ruth Vasquez Rodriguez-Martinez, 23, is charged with injury to a child and abandoning a child — both felonies — after a Houston police investigation.
The boy later told investigators he drank some chocolate milk without his mother's permission.
When she discovered what happened, she began strangling the boy and then flung him into a closet with such force that his head struck the wall and started bleeding, Houston police said.
She noticed the blood and the cut on her son's forehead but chose not to seek medical help for him because "she did not want CPS (Child Protective Services) in her life," according the criminal complaint. More
