Girls, 11 and 15, charged in brother's murder

WHITE SPRINGS, Fla. -- A teenage boy in White Springs was shot and killed Monday night and his two younger sisters are accused of plotting and carrying out his murder, authorities said Tuesday.

At some point Monday night, authorities got a tip from two girls that there had been a shooting at a home in the 1200 block of Sophie Drive, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office. When investigators got to the scene about 10 p.m., they found 16-year-old Damien Kornegay dead of a gunshot wound.

Deputies said the 15-year-old girl, identified as Misty "Ariel" Kornegay, apparently grabbed a handgun from their parents' bedroom and shot her brother. The teen is being held without bond at the Columbia County Jail on a charge of premeditated murder.

Two other children, 3 and 11, were in the home at the time, the Sheriff's Office said. The children's parents were out of town. More
