Former middle school principal accused of stabbing 2 to death in rampage

A former middle school principal who lost his job after being charged with buying drugs in his office was arrested Friday in a stabbing rampage that left two dead and nine injured, MyFoxTampaBay reports.

45-year-old Anthony Giancola, the former principal of Van Buren Middle School in Tampa, allegedly entered a group home for the hearing impaired in Lealman and began stabbing people apparently at random.

Officials said Justin Lee Vand, 27, died at the scene, and Mary Anne Allis, 59, died at a nearby hospital. Two other residents, Danielle Whitney Gilbert, 25, and Janice Denise Rhoden, 44, were injured.

Authorities allege Giancola then headed to the Kenvins Motel nearby, attacking husband and wife owners Kanu and Indiranden Patel with a hammer. Both were hospitalized.  More
