Supermarket owner beaten with skateboard

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Police are looking for four young male suspects who attacked the owner of a Lower East Side supermarket late Friday afternoon, and they're hoping surveillance photos will lead to an arrest.

The incident happened just after 5:30 p.m. at the Eastern Supermarket on Grand Street.

Authorities say the four suspects entered the store, removed merchandise and attempted to exit without paying.

The 50-year-old victim tried to stop them from shoplifting when he was struck in the face with a skateboard.  More
