Wheelchair-bound 550-pound suspect doesn’t fit into court elevator

New York – The 550-pound boss of an alleged Bronx gun-running ring could not make it into a courtroom for his Friday arraignment because his massive wheelchair didn’t fit inside an elevator.

So William “Wobbles” Soler instead pleaded not guilty in a basement two floors below the ground of a Bronx courthouse near where prisoners are held.

“Basically, it’s a love seat on wheels,” Bronx Supreme Court Judge George Villegas said of Soler’s double-wide wheelchair.

The rotund ringleader was originally driven into the courthouse through a side garage door, officials said. More
