Hospital employee accused of using dead patient’s credit cards

SARASOTA, FL. - A Sarasota Memorial Hospital employee has been arrested for using a deceased patient’s credit cards to make purchases.

The victim of the theft died in the emergency room of Sarasota Memorial Hospital on June 10. Within hours after his death, his three credit cards were used to purchase airline tickets, bridal shoes, pay phone bills and other assorted items totaling over $1,186.00.

With the assistance of the Public Safety Office at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Margaret Nunn, a patient registration representative in the Emergency Room, was identified as a suspect.

During the investigation probable cause was developed that Nunn was responsible for the theft of the credit card numbers and utilization of the victim's personal identification information.

During an interview with a detective, Nunn admitted to copying down the victim's driver’s license information and credit card numbers, and then using them to make the purchases.  More
